St. James's Club

The Crown Estate has opened their first members club in St James’s London, catered to their vast network of tenants and collaborators. A vacant 1970's building was retrofitted to create a space for events, meetings, networking and wellness activities. The scheme sought to integrate sustainable design in as many areas of the space as possible which has resulted in a calm and balanced environment full of natural materials and light.

The design highlights the inherited industrial architecture and mindfully restores key details. The aim of this project was to create an urban sanctuary for visitors who could disconnect and reset in order to enhance their productivity. Sustainability and lighting design was key to the success of the space, and close attention was put to an organic and sustainable material palette with areas of biophilia throughout.

The project was delivered by Fathom Architects and has been shortlisted in the 'Conserving' category by the New London Awards 2021.
